Google Galaxy Nexus Confirmed
Ready for another Nexus-related rumor? Following a report from last month which claimed that Samsung would be crafting the next Nexus, the company's Romanian arm may have confirmed on its Twitter account that it will indeed be making the device. After (roughly) translating two of Samsung Romania's tweets using Google magic, the statements show the firm "confirming" that the new Nexus will feature Android 4.0 as well as a Super AMOLED HD display.
The tweets also claim that production of the device hasn't started yet but that it'll be arriving late this year. It's worth mentioning that, as with all rumors, you'd probably be wise to take this news with a grain or two of salt for the time being. After all, Google Translate has been responsible for some wonky translations in the past. If this rumor holds true, though, Samsung could have a pretty monstrous little device on its hands. Stay tuned.
I’m surprised to see Samsung confirm speculations via Twitter like that, and I’m surprised the Tweets in questions have not been erased yet, which is something that happens to plenty of accidentally revealing tweets from such companies. And that makes me believe we could be looking at some sort of a joke here, although not a very good one, and especially one that any PR department working for such a company should refrain from making.
Let’s look at the tweets below, as they have been sent out, in chronological order (therefore in reverse order that what you can see in the Twitter feed screenshot below):
1st tweet: Exactly as you have already discovered: http://fb.me/QLGZA7ol
2nd tweet: Yes, the next Nexus will be Samsung and it will have Super AMOLED HD. From Go4it.ro: bit.ly/IRFSUh
Galaxy Nexus Confirmed By Samsung Legal Team
Samsung’s legal team may have inadvertently confirmed rumors that the company is indeed working on the next Google phone dubbed the Galaxy Nexus. Rumors that the Galaxy Nexus would be the first handset to sport Android Ice Cream Sandwich emerged back in June. In an attempt to squash another rumor, the Samsung legal team issued a cease and desist letter that has the Galaxy Nexus literally written all over it.
The cease and desist letter was a warning to an individual believed to have in possession the upcoming firmware for the Galaxy Nexu with the intention to release it to the public. The letter stated that “the Galaxy Nexus firmware is the exclusive property of Samsung and/or its partners, suppliers and affiliates.”
Although details on the Galaxy Nexus are still scant, the phone is rumored to sport a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a Texas Instruments OMAP4460 1.5GHz dual-core processor and possibly 4G LTE connectivity.
